I have been using Downloader PRO for a few months with my Canon 20D and am VERY happy with the speed and ease of use. Last week I was on a photo shot in Florida and rented a Canon 1D Mark II camera. When I inserted the card, Downloader PRO did not recognize it. I had to manually download the photos into my photo folders. Did not like that since I got used to the ease of Downloader PRO. I am now purchasing the Canon EOS Mark II N and I want the program to recognize which camera the photos were shot with. I want it to automatically recognize either camera used when I insert card to download. I tried to use the HELP menu but I don't know what code or where to put the code for the software to do this. Would appreciate info on how to set up in Preferences both cameras. Help!!!

Are you using a card reader to download or connecting to the camera via the FireWire cable? You can't use the USB port on the 1D Mark II cameras because it is intended for direct connection to printers and can't be used for downloading. You also need to install the Canon drivers for the camera before you can download from it.
I hardly ever download directly from the camera as I find it much simpler and faster to use a USB 2.0 card reader.

Chris,I was able to load my camera in the "mapping" section by finding it in my external drive where the photo card is located. I clicked OK and then tried to load a photo card from the new camera but Downloader Pro did not open. I manually opened it and found the card using "Open Source Directory" under FILE. I then downloaded the pictures and manually closed the software. Boy, do I miss the automatic funtions of this great software. Is there something I need to add in Preferences to get it to open automatically when I load a card from either camera?

This might be a Windows XP AutoPlay problem. Does Windows display any dialogs when you insert a card into the card reader?
I use a Delkin CardBus32 card reader when downloading images to my laptop running Windows XP Pro and it works really well.

Yes, I believe it does. Something like "What do you want to do now?", load into files, etc. But Chris again it has worked perfectly with my original camera the 20D. Any way is there a fix?

I suspect that Windows XP AutoPlay is failing to recognize CR2 raw files as "Pictures" and so doesn't know what to do with them. It may work if you make sure there is at least one JPEG on the memory card. Windows uses the file extension to determine the file type and so it doesn't really make sense that Windows should recognize 20D CR2 raw files as "Pictures" but not 1D Mark II N CR2 raw files.
