Just downloaded DLPro 1.8 and discovered that %r8 is documented as working only when images are read from the card reader.

Why is that? The shutter count remains in the file after the file has been transferred to the computer.

Downloader Pro needs to read the shutter count before downloading the file so that it can use it in the filename. In fact the card reader restriction only applies to downloading images from Canon 1D series cameras because it isn't possible to read the shutter count of images stored on the memory card when connecting directly to the camera. With cameras that appear in Windows Explorer as a drive letter (i.e. as a mass storage device) the camera is effectively a card reader and so this restriction doesn't apply.
BTW There is a problem reading the shutter count from Nikon files in DLPro v1.8 which I fix in the next update.
