Is there a way to have Downloader Pro add additional IPTC info on download. My normal templates do not include keywords and other image specific details but the more generic IPTC info that should apply to every one of my images. This includes the following fields not currently included:

IPTC Contact (Creator, Title, Address,City, State, Zip, Country, Phones, Email, Website)
Rights Usage Terms
Status (custom fields used in other software)

Can these be applied by a text file even if they are not a part of the form?

Any help is appreciated

I've been through this with Chris recently (via a couple of stupid mistakes!). Here's the resulting step-by step process.

1. Open DL Pro without a card or camera connected (not essential, but I find that it avoids clutter/confusion).

2. Under File|Preferences, select the General Tab, and tick the "add NAA/IPTC data..." box. If your standard data (e.g. the group title/comment) changes at each download, tick the "prompt for NAA/IPTC data ..." box. (I also have DL Pro prompt for the Job Code, as I use the Job Code token (%J) in one of the IPTC fields.)

3. Under Edit|NAA/IPTC data, set the standard values for your IPTC fields. You can use tokens for variables such as image date/time/number and EXIF shooting data, as you would for file and folder naming.

4. Download as normal. Your image will be populated with IPTC data to your specification. DL Pro remembers the field values (until you change them) for subsequent downloads

Hope this helps. Ask again if you find it confusing; I did at first.

Thanks for replying. I have gotten that far. I've selected the various options to Add NAA/IPTC data and to prompt me for it. The problem is that there are no fields for copyright, rights, and creator address (at least I can't find them).

The copyright field at least is on the Credits/Status tab.

Oops sorry. I did have that one filled in. I just need all the other data - especially with George's asinine orphan law coming out. Without clear rights info and contact details, our work can be too easily used without limit.

Firstly, apologies for thinking that your question was more basic than is in fact the case.

I don't think that there are dedicated fields for 'rights' and 'creator address', though you can use other fields to store that information. But the root of the problem, I think, is that there are two extant IPTC standards. DL Pro (like BB Pro) currently supports the old (IIM) standard, but not the newer (XMP) standard.

Adobe Bridge (which does support the newer standard) displays a specific 'rights usage terms' field by default, and can no doubt be instructed to display the other fields as well. This is not surprising; Adobe have been a prime mover in implementing the new standard. Just one problem: Adobe's SDK won't work with the (Microsoft) compiler Chris happens to use. Thanks a bundle, Adobe (or maybe Microsoft).

In other threads (mainly in the BB Pro Forum), Chris has explained what he is doing in these circumstances to make BB Pro (and then DL Pro) XMP compatible. For now, we just have to work around the compatibility problem. I hope that it is fixed soon, because I fear that the legacy data issue (lots of images with IIM standard data) will not be trivial.

Thanks David. I guess I'm used to working with iView Media Pro and it uses the standard fields AND contains all the relevent fields. I'll wait and see what happens. I know it's always a challenge as standards evolve.

I'm just in the process of setting up my library of 6000 plus images in iView and Bridge and would like to minimize the reworking of images later.
