View Full Version : Renaming problem

Because of the time Bridge sometimes takes to rename and also the fact that after renaming tiffs the thumbnails are corrupted when viewed in Breezebrowser Pro, I thought I would try BPro instead to rename 260 tiff images from a recent wedding.
Before renaming I rearranged the order of some of the images and unfortunately BPro, despite renaming in a few seconds, managed to get the order mixed up
I ended up resorting in Bridge and renaming again there.
Is this a common problem or should I be able to rename a shuffled set of images in BPro without a problem?
Thanks

I suspect that what you wanted to do, i.e. maintaining a 'random' resorting of images can't be done in BBpro the way you expected it to do as it probably reverted to whatever sort order was set via View | Image
However, I believe you could have done a batch rename & included an incremental # in the renaming process which you could then have used to sort & maintained your image order.
However, other, more experienced users may have a better suggestion.

I've not had the best of luck renaming in BB Pro. I haven't taken the time to try and sort out why it is not working the way I thought it should.
I bought a little shareware program called Total Commander (www.ghisler.com). You can use a single or multiple ranges from the original file name, it has the incremental counter and a lots of other options in its batch renaming function. I believe that the trial version of this software has no limiting factors and works forever as long as you are willing to live with the opening screen. If has been one of my better shareware purchases.

I assume that you rearranged using drag-and-drop. If you do this, you can preserve the new order for batch renaming. In the dialogue, set 'Sort By' to 'As displayed'. That should do the trick.

Ah...... learned something new. Thanks from me, too.

Don't thank me; thank Chris for devising this neat feature in the first place.
