View Full Version : Error Renaming Files

I can't batch rename files any more.

Renaming a single image works fine, but if I try to do a batch rename using the template for example: "embrace__%[5-8]" I get an error message saying "Error Renaming Files".

I can rename each one individually, but no longer by batch. This has only become apparent since 1.6.1.

I've just dropped back to 1.6.0 and successfully batch renamed the files, so Chris, could you please double check 1.6.1?

Anyone else having rename issues in 1.6.1?

J

I'm looking into the problem. It appears to be due to some debug code that was accidentally left in the release version and this causes an error if you try to batch rename a subset of the images in a folder. It works fine if you select all the images in the folder and then batch rename.
I will try to release an update later this week to fix the problem.

It doesn't work on my pc, even if you do select all the files (1DIIN jpegs)

Yes, it has, both with all files selected and also with a few random selected

Thanks,

Chris, are you going to post a final update or leave it as 1.6.1 (061025) ?

Should we download the 1.6.1. version again now the bugs are fixed - the date hasn't changed from 17th October?

I'm just putting together the release package for BBPro v1.6.2 now and will release it later today. This will be identical to 1.6.1 (061025) apart from the version info in the about box etc.

Thanks Chris.

I must say BB Pro has become my 'must have' application now, there is just so much it will do.

It isn't my choice for RAW conversion because that interface is still a wee bit clunky - even in comparison with DPP (!) - and the lack of different view sizes (for RAW conversion) is a shame, but for everything else it is just such a valuable piece of software.

Hi Chris,

With latest version 1.6.2 I am getting the following error when I enter a comment for a Tiff image -

Error Saving Comment:
TIIFF File does not contain and Exif User Comment Field.

Any idea, wanting to add titles to web photos uploaded.
Thanks,
Rob Kipp

Hello Chris,
On my other computer, the user "Comment Field" works but not on this computer. How can this be so? I did a Google search and found that BB does have a fix for this posted a year or more ago. Can you tell me where I might fiind this or how I can add Titles to my Images converted with BB/Pro for HTML on web.

7 January 2002: v1.3b

* Added copy EXIF to TIFF (please read warning before using)

Thanks, for any help or guidance.

It depends on the TIFF file. Most apps write TIFFs with EXIF UserComments or ImageDescription fields. BBPro can't add comments to TIFFs that don't have one of these fields. The best solution is probably to use IPTC data instead and then it doesn't matter whether the EXIF UserComments or ImageDescription fields are present.
