Any ideas if downloader can use the Garmin Edge 305 tracklogs (Same as the Forerunner 305/205). If so can can Downloader take the file direct from the USB port or does the XML file need to be extracted from the Garmin first?

It should work if the track log file is in NMEA or GPX format. Downloader Pro will only be able to access the track log via the USB if the device operates as a USB mass storage device (i.e. appears as a disk in Windows Explorer with a drive letter).

If you have Garmin's MapSource program you can import the tracklog from your 305 into it and then save it as a GPX file which DLP can use. That's what I do with my 205.

I am glad you told me that Zack. I had tried exporting the track from MotionBased but DLPro wouldnt see it. I didn't know Mapsource looked at the Edge. Worked a treat.

So you got a GPX file from MotionBased and it didn't work? That's very odd...

Bill,

Is the MotionBased software the same as the Garmin training software or is it a separate application? I don't think I have the Motion Based software installed on my computer and I know the Garmin software does not export to GPX. Fortunately MapSource does and that works like a champ for me.
