Have used DLPro for a few years but struggling on something simple!
I have decided to convert to dng a number of old images rather than have the chore of sidecar files. Tried today to 'download' from a folder, re-naming the folder and the files and converting to dng. Nothing special about that except I cannot find a way to get the iptc data into the dng. It converts OK and renames appropriately but strips out the location data for example. Converting the same files through stand alone dng converter does the job fine.

I suspect that this may be a limitation of DL Pro. It is, after all, a dedicated downloader, not an image management program. As such, because as far as I know, IPTC data is never added to the image in camera, DL Pro would expect to create new IPTC data in downloaded images, not preserve data that is already there. Chris can confirm whether this is correct.
The DL Pro DNG plug-in is not a separate converter; it calls the Adobe converter. So the basic conversion process must always be the same; it is only the way that it is called that will vary.
For images that already contain IPTC data, the Adobe standalone conversion program may in fact be the best tool to use. Ideally, it would be possible to use the EXIF Copy function of BB Pro to copy metadata to DNG files, but, from my reading of the BB Pro Help file, I don't think that DNG files can be a target for EXIF copy.

If the images already contain IPTC data you need to disable the option to add IPTC in DLPro otherwise it will overwrite the IPTC data with the values specified in DLPro.

Many thanks for your speedy replies. Unfortunately turning off 'Add iptc/xmp data...' has no effect. What I would like is for the job code prompt and the iptc prompt to appear when trying to download from a folder because some other files will not have iptc. But, as David said, I am trying to stretch the app beyond its aims. Thanks
