Chris, First thank you so much for adding the auto reconnect feature to PSRemote...it's amazing how much it has helped (and how essential it has become!). The only thing that I can think of just now that would improve it (for me?) would be to prevent it from auto-reconnecting after the camera has been intentionally disconnected using the "Disconnect..." menu item. Ideally, I think, it should remain off until the camera is reconnected via the "Connect..." command.

(Generally I can just "pull the plug" and after plugging the camera back in the camera reconnects and things are back to normal. Sometimes, though, something hangs things up and in the worst case the PC has be be rebooted...or some of the hanging processes have to be manually killed...to get things back in synch. (I find this is an issue when, for instance, I need to change the batteries or use the camera by itself.)

Do you know if the USB port can be "shut off" and "turned on" programatically? If it could then the camera could be "shut off" (since it remains on if connected to the computer) remotely and turned on again when needed). Just a thought. (BTW, I'm working with a Powershot S2 IS.)

Thanks again for such a great product! Zhora

The best thing to do if you want to intentionally disconnect from the camera to change the batteries is simply to close PSRemote. If you turn the camera off or disconnect the USB cable there is a risk that the USB drivers will get confused and you may need to reboot the PC.
