some jpg images from an old sony cause BBP to lock up

I have several thousand jpg images form my old Sony DKC-ID1. I copied them to Zip disks 100. many pictures will not open in BBP and lock the computer without displaying the picture. these same jpg images will open in PSCS.
any suggestions or comments. TY
