I'm asking this in the photobooth forum because I am using the PhotoBoothBtn program.
Is there a way to have PSRemote or PhotoBoothBtn send a signal to the COM port when it has taken a picture?
I am using PSRemote to take pictures of steps in a CNC manufacturing process, and I would like be able to know when a photo has been taken in order to tell the machine to proceed to the next step.
Thanks.

You could use the editor option to run a batch file or program after the photo has been downloaded to the PC. Please see the "Editing Images and Editor Setup" section near the bottom of this page of the help file for more info: http://www.breezesys.com/PSRemote/help/main.htm
It might be easier to use the PSRemoteLib.dll or PSRemoteTest.exe to control the camera from your CNC system. http://www.breezesys.com/PSRemote/help/psremotelib.htm

I tried using a batch file to execute a simple "echo" command to the com port. However, because PhotoBoothBtn is using the COM port, no other program is allowed to use it. The simple message I get says "access is denied." I only have one com port (the one PBBtn is using), so now I don't know what to do.

You could add another COM port by using a USB to serial adaptor. Alternatively you could use a USB controlled relay such as this one:

Yes that's what I'm going to end up doing. Thanks.
