Hi CHris,

Another feature request: When using the "backup" plugin it's possible to backup JPEGs, all files and all files except for JPEGs.

I would like to backup my DNG files to a specific folder, but this isn't possible at the moment, right? Could you extend the backup functionality in order to backup DNG files only?

Regards,
Michael

If you use the "Backup all except JPEGs" option it will backup DNG and other non-JPEG files. Hopefully this will cover most situations. It isn't really practical to extend this to cover every combination of file types.

Hi Chris,

Along those same lines is it possible to split the raw and jpg files? For example I would donload only jpg files to f:\my pictures and arw to the backup location.

Thanks Chris,
George

All images have to be downloaded to the main download folder. You can then use the backup plug-in to make copies of all files, JPEGs only or all except JPEGs to up to two backup locations. If you don't want a folder containing both JPEGs and raws you could make the main download location a temporary folder that you later delete and use the two backup locations to save JPEGs and non-JPEGs to different locations. Alternatively you could use the {E} tokens to separate different file types into different subfolders.

Chris, is it possible to backup the DNG files created by the DNG converter plugin? On my system DLP uses a special folder for the converted DNG files and it would be great if the program could create an initial backup of these DNGs - and not of the original raw files.

It isn't possible to do this with the backup plug-in because plug-ins only operate on the downloaded files and don't know about files created by other plug-ins. You could write an enhanced DNG plug-in that runs Adobe's DNG converter to create the DNG file and then backs it up to a second location.

Thanks for your reply, Chris. Unfortunately I'm not a developer :( is there any chance to integrate a backup into your DNG plugin?

I don't think I can justify the time and cost needed to develop a plug-in to do this as it is somewhat specialised. If you keep a copy of the original raw file (which is probably a good idea anyway) this can be used as a backup for the DNG file. You can always create a new DNG copy from the original raw file if something happens to the DNG file.
