I seem to be struggling to get my 6 in 1 reader to work correctly, when i insert the compact flash card, autoplay starts 2, 3 or even 4 instances of downloader, even if i disable automation and start downloader manually it still opens more than 1 instance, this reader is a usb 2, I also have a Sandisk imagemate compact flash reader it's not usb 2 though, that works perfectly, do you think its the card reader at fault or maybe some other settings?

It does sound as though it may be your 6-in-1 card reader which may be confusing Windows XP's AutoPlay. I occasionally use a 5-in-1 card reader and haven't had any problems. It's worth right clicking on various drive letters allocated to the card reader in Windows Explorer and checking the AutoPlay settings. to see it there is anything starnge there.

Thanks Chris, think you are right i shall try a new reader, just completed a reinstall of XP :rolleyes: and its still the same, dont worry i did'nt do the reinstall to try and cure this problem.
