Hi I'd be very grateful for some help as I find metadata very very very confusing.

I'm using DLPro alongside a Sony GPS device.

On the GPS settings menu on DLP, I have enable Geo-Tagging, and I have also ticked Lookup place-names.

This appears to work perfectly, as if I right click on a file in DLP, and select check GPS, it shows me the place names quite happily.

When I download however, I only get the basic GPS data written to my XMP files (I'm using CR2 files), and the place information does not download with the remaining data.

Is this because I have to set something in the IPTC/XMP Data menu page? If so how?

All the help file states is

"This information is stored in the tokens shown in the example below and can be used to automatically add place name data to the IPTC/XMP data." I know how I can use that in the file name, but I don't want that, I want to get it into Lightroom.

Thanks

Colin

You can add the information to the IPTC XMP data by selecting Edit->IPTC/XMP data... then enter the GPS location tokens where required.

e.g. Add the token {geonames_name} to the "City:" field in the IPTC/XMP data.

I have a similar problem to Colin: I think I know how to map the tokens to IPTC data, but I'm not sure exactly what to map to what. Presumably there is some standard, it would be great to have it spelled out in some "place names for dummies" document.
