I am having trouble getting the token {r8} to work on 1d mark iv files. It works fine with mk ii files. I am running DLPro v.2.2.6 on w7 64bit

Unfortunately Canon don't appear to store the shutter activation count in the shooting data for 1D Mark IV files.

That is VERY bad news because my next camera upgrade would the new 1D Canon camera.

I saw a discussion on DPreview about the file numbering. I looked for more information and I saw the following:

0x8 Image Number Unsigned Long 1
Normally reported as FFF-XXXX.
FFF is this value divided by 1000, XXXX is this value mod 1000.

Is this the value that is not support any more on newer models?

Unfortunately Canon don't appear to store this information in the shooting data any more. I've spent a long time trying to find it in the MakerNote section of the shooting data and also searched the net to see whether anyone else has found it, but nothing so far.

I have some 5D MKII raw files and when I looked at the Exif info I saw with Breezebrowser the folder and image number stated as: Image Serial Number: 000-6496

I know from my own 1D MKII that I can put the camera in a mode to increment the folder number by putting it to "M- reset". I have it currently set to continue.

edit: the M-reset creates manual a new folder and returns to your own settings and not as stated in the manual "automatic".

My back LCD states folder 100 all the time. My click (image) counter is 129549 and the Image Serial Number: 000-6496 and that should have been 012-9549.

Can someone who has a newer model Canon check if the folder is incremented after reaching 9.999 pictures and Breezebrowser will state: Image Serial Number: xxx-yyyy in the extended exif information? The xxx should be not zero.

Regard, Marcel

Older Canon camera models store both the folder number and image number in the shooting data but for some reason Canon no longer store this information in the shooting data for newer models (or if they do it is well hidden). If BreezeBrowser Pro can't find the folder number and image number in the shooting data it will use the last four digits of the filename for the image number.

It's worth noting that, as DL Pro can read the folder and image numbers (from the folder(s)/files on the card) to its {q} and {r} tokens, you can use it to record this data in IPTC before file renaming destroys it. I also get round the 'reverting to folder 100' problem (which also affects the original 5D) by using a batch file to recreate the folder structure I want, when I have deleted the images on the card but before I put it back in the camera.
