How 2 use hotfolder prints 2 avoid redoing templates 4 differnet resolution pritnters?
Lets say you own a Sony upcx1 printer as your main printer, but get a used sony updr150 pritner as a back up unit.
You made a bunch of custom templates and dont' want to spend hours making them again for the updr150 which has a different print out resolutions.
this is a work around to print images using the updr150 without having to redo your template files.
In your photobooth program
set default printer to upcx1
set output to jpeg only.
have hotfolder printer program monitor the c:\psremote\prints or
c:\dslsremote\prints
directory and print out the image created using the upcx1 driver.
Yes it is a little complicated, but once you know how to do it, it's not that bad.

it would be even cooler if hot folder printer acted like a virtual printer and all templates could just be made for it so all resolution settings would be the same.
It is currently hard to share templates due to different printers being different resolutions.

Haven't used hotfolder prints.
Does it delete the image once printed or copy/move it to another folder so it can be printed again later?
I ask because when I was looking into hotfolder programs one of the "cons" was that some of them delete the file after printing.

It leaves the files in the folder after printing. When you run Hot Folder Prints it only monitors the folder for new images and will ignore any images already in the folder.

Unfortunately this is virtually impossible to do because many layouts place images right up to the edges of the paper and printers don't handle borderless printing consistently. Most printers will overprint when set to borderless printing to guarantee the whole page is covered and the amount of over printing depends on the printer used e.g. one printer may report a page size of 6.2"x4.2" when printing 6"x4" borderless prints whereas another may have a page size of 6.1"x4.1".

sonyupxc1, kodak 6500, and shinko s2145 all have about the same resolution which is good for sharing templates.
stupid sony updr150 and sony updr200 are different/higher resolution.
Inkjet pritners are the worse! epson, canon, hp inkjets are typically around 600ppi, but they vary so much it is impossible to get a standard template for inkjet printers in general without using a program like hotfolder prints to act as a intermediary and print out templates made for dye subs.
I guess what I'm saying is templates made with a 312ppi setting are most universal.
