I'm using a Rebel XS and DSLR Remote v.1.9.1 and I'm frequently getting an error message that the "AF Unable to Lock". I don't see any correlation between anything guests are doing in the booth and getting this message - no movement, etc. I have the ISO set at 1600 & the booth is well lit. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

Best not to use AF if you can avoid it. AF will try to determine focus at its focus point and if the subject is not precisely at that point, it cannot get a lock. I'm not familiar with the camera but can you set it to 'manual' focus? If so, get someone to stand at the standard position and focus on them. After that everything in and around that point will be in focus. If not, can you set the AF to something like 'all points' or 'wide area' focus and try that.

Had the same problem on occasion. If not enough light or no one sitting in front of the camera with a black background.
I now switch to auto when setting up have someone sit in the booth hit F9 to let the camera focus and then switch off auto focus and let depth of field take care of the rest. Works every time.

use black electrical tape to stick the focus ring to one spot and one zoom 24mm is good. You will never get the error again and your pictures will look sharp every time.
