Hi Chris,

I haven't posted here for a long time. I'm thinking about upgrading my licenses again. I was wondering if it is possible to rotate the Live View from Landscape to Portrait mode? I couldn't seem to find a way to do it in the trial mode (which has now expired)

I know you can of course rotate image capture. It's just tricky using Live View in DSLR Remote Pro (multi capture) when in Landscape when your camera is setup in a Portrait angle.

Thanks for your time. A happy New Year to you!

You can rotate the live view display to portrait by selecting one of the portrait settings from the View menu in the main DSLR Remote Pro window.

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply. I must have missed that. I will be able to try that out once I get some more licenses.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

I tried your suggestion but it did not work. I must be doing something wrong? No matter what I try, I cannot get the "Live View" to be in the correct orientation. Whether the cameras settings are set to portrait or even if I have Portrait (90 degrees CW) set in View. Live View just stays in Landscape mode.

Also no matter what my settings are for a Portrait setup, once the images are recorded they are always in Landscape mode. The EXIF data might say they are rotated but the thumbnails in Explorer, ACDSee or PS say they are Landscape (sideways) images??

I am using Canon 450D's.

Am I missing something?

I still love the DSLR Remote Pro Multi-Camera software regardless but it would be good to get this figured out.

Cheers

Lee

Images are rotated by modifying the EXIF Orientation tag in the shooting data stored in the image file. Windows Explorer ignores this and will display the images in landscape orientation. Older versions of Photoshop also ignore the EXIF Orientation, but more recent versions should display the images correctly.

Ok thanks.

I've been putting the software through its paces again over the weekend and it's very stable and solid, I had some teething issues last week but all seemed to be solved.

**What do I do about the live view? Is it always set to Landscape? I can't change it to Portrait. Which is quite tricky when trying to line up and match shots with my head crooked to one side.**

The live view orientation is the same as the orientation setting in the View menu - landscape, 90 degrees CW/CCW or inverted.

Well I cannot get the Live view to change from Landscape at all on either my main PC or Laptop. I will gladly post some screen shots in the next post to show you.

If I change any of the View settings, Live View doesn't update. It just stays in Landscape mode. Also Picture Style is set to Portrait.

Is there some other setting on in the Cameras Menu that needs adjusting?

Should it not be more like this?

or upside down depending on CW CCW. My point is that Landscape mode is fixed all the time, well with this version of the software and my 450D's

Any info on this Chris? is it a bug of some sort? or are my settings wrong in some way.

Regards

Sorry I thought you were using DSLR Remote Pro for Windows not DSLR Remote Pro Multi-Camera. You can rotate the live view in the single camera version (DSLR Remote Pro for Windows) but not in the multi-camera version.

Why is it not possible to rotate one camera in the multi-camera version? so I am stuck with landscape mode, even if I just want to view one live view? from one camera?
