I decided to steer clear of a combined booth offering a choice of both medias as experience over the last year has shown that drunk people have enough trouble deciding if they want a color photo or a black & white one and a third choice would just be too much..!

To those of you that offer both in the same booth, how well does it work for you in reality..?

It worked OK, I guess. If the DJ is loud, it kind of overpowers the sound of the guests. One problem to overcome is depth of field. With the strobe, I can set it to f16 and have no problems. With video, it takes a LOT of light to get good DOF. 2 or 3 people deep will be a problem.

Noise is the main issue at most events. - we put a studio mike above the guests, pointing down and slightly away from any music.

Where sound hasn't been a problem it has worked well. Not many guests leave a video message though - so much so that sometimes we turn off the playback feature, so they don't get a choise of keep/delete.

We charge for the video option - some give it for free.

We use the video message and its a good extra to offer for free. If the venue is not to noisy then a studio mic will work fine, our booths are solid with a door so this isnt a big issue. You will find that some events dont have loads of videos but some go mad for it, its a good selling point. We also dont use the playback as this would slow down the booth usage time.
