I just recently downloaded the latest version of Breeze software v2.3 and now I'm having problems with
my arcade buttons on both of my booths. It seems as if too much time lapses between photos taken I have to reset the buttons. Of course
I don't know they need to be reset until the customer presses them and they don't work. Any suggestions on what may be causing my little problem?

When you say reset, what do you mean? What are you using to interface the buttons to your computer? Stealthswitch?

A little more info will help someone offer assistance.

Hi JoseG!

My arcade buttons connect to my laptop via usb. I apparently have a program that has to be opened up manually when I start my booth. I press the arcade buttons and it then creates a pin connection. It seems since my upgrade I have to close down arcade software and restart.

Wondering if... I need a driver upgrade of some sort for the arcade software?

Any ideas?

Are you using the serial port method to connect the arcade buttons with a USB to serial port converter? The photobooth button utility software shouldn't need updating - the version that is in the installation folder should work fine. Please check that all the plugs and wires are firmly connected. You could also try reinstalling the driver software for the USB to serial converter and checking the manufacturer's website to see if there is a newer version of the drivers. I have a Startech USB to serial converter and I've just tried it on a 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium system with DSLR Remote Pro for Windows v2.3 and v1.5 of the photobooth button software it appears to be working correctly.

However, I recommend using the StealthSwitch 3/StealthSwitch II method of connecting arcade buttons as this tends to be more reliable. Please see this page for details:

I agree with Chris. I use the stealth switch II to connect my three buttons (one for color, one for b/w pcis, one for video) and it is very reliable. The one thing that can go wrong is if the the DSLR Program is NOT in focus. Then the buttons won't work, but once the booth is up and running, there is usually no reason for it not be in focus. Unless another program like a pop-up comes up and steals the focus. To remedy this, there is a AHK that can be used to make sure the DSRL Pro software is always in focus..

Also no other software needs to be loaded to get this to work.

I'm building my third booth and want it to be something really simple, one button starts the sequence no options. I bought a big red button and a teensy. Has anybody used this setup? My first two booths are touch screen so I've never gone the button route. I think the stealth switch would be way overkill which is why I went with the teensy. Also, I'm a photographer/graphic artist, not an electrician/programmer. Your help would be appreciated.

I've used Arduino boards for a number of projects but haven't come across "Teensy" before. It looks fairly simple to run it in USB HID keyboard or joystick mode to interface arcade buttons but I think you will need some hardware and programming knowledge to get it working.
It doesn't appear to be available here in the UK and is rather expensive to ship from the US.
The StealthSwitch is more expensive but is much simpler to program.

Thanks for the reply Chris. I guess I will have to read the instructions and get my son's help on this one. ;)

If there is anyone out there that has used this I would appreciate some input. There are a few videos but none of them directly address what I'm doing.

Hi all,

Just touching base as I've since figured out my problem. Seems my arcade button was creating extra com ports, one of my booths was so high (com37) that it ended up loosing all conectivity. I was able to solve this problem by touching all com ports taking them out of use and then re-assigning arcade to a lower number. Now if someone knows how to prevent my computer from creating extra com ports that would be great!
