View Full Version : Canon 5D - The parameter is incorrect

I am trying to hook up my canon 5D to my laptop computer, but keep getting "The parameter is incorrect"

Windows XP - 32 Bit
Loaded the driver for the camera
Video System: NTSC
Communication: Print/PTP (PC connect does not work either)
Preferences set as per directions

Could someone please help me figure out how to get this to work.

The communication mode needs to be set to "PC connect" not "Print/PTP" for the original Canon EOS 5D. You also need to install the Canon drivers for the 5D. Are you able to connect to the camera using Canon's EOS Utility software?

Thanks Chris. I changed the setting and removed the driver and reloaded it. Now it works.

With Windows 7 I had to load the vista and winxp drivers for it to work.
I believe canon's web site stating the win7 drivers for the 5d are not necessary is NOT correct
